Near Mahon Falls, on the
Comeragh Way, is the Magic Road. Stop on the hill near the
fairy thorn tree, they say, and put your car into neutral.
The car will continue up the hill as if pushed by a legion of
tiny folks. And pretty strong they are for little
people, for very soon the car will pick up speed on its journey up the
hill and if you are not careful it will careen you onto a major road.
And that is why I recommend, from personal experience, that
you put your car in neutral rather than switching off the engine. At
least you will have the benefit of power assisted breaking. I
had to jam on my emergency brake to make me
stop. Hair-raising.
Explanations?
Why rush to demystify the wonderful. Just sit back and wonder.
